On July 24, 2010, the Greenfield Varsity Cheerleaders participated in the Regional Cheerleading Competition at Willard High School. The competition, having two sessions, started at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with 50 squads competing. This competition is open to all MSHSAA member schools. Each school competes in one of the following divisions: 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, Coed and JV. Each division is then subdivided into either small or large squads, depending on the number of squad members.
The Greenfield Varsity Squad competed in the 2A Small Division. The girls began preparing their routine back in May, and practiced long and hard over the summer to perfect it. The routine, which included floor cheers, chants, stunts and a dance routine, had a maximum time limit of 3 minutes.
At 10:46 a.m., the squad took the floor and performed a near flawless routine. Greenfield took 3rd place in the 2A Small division, advancing to the State Competition to be held November 19 and 20, at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri. The girls will compete with other high school cheerleading squads from around the state.
The squad’s coach, Kelly Killingsworth and Dee Glenn will accompany the squad to Columbia along with parents, friends and fans.
Squad members include Jessika Bishop, Cori Austin, Kylee Shepard, Elena Cornstubble, Kameron Davis, Kayla McKenzie, Paige Hargis, Kelsie Henry, Lacey Mayne and Amanda Morris.
The squad would also like to thank the following sponsors for their donations during the Buffalo Days Celebration in May and the 4th of July Celebration: Hot Spot - ice and cups, Summer Fresh - sugar. Thank you to our sponsors!
