Former Everton Area Woman Dies In Pickup - School Bus Crash

A 45-year old Pleasant Hope woman was killed Tuesday evening, January 24, when the pickup she was driving collided nearly head-on with a Pleasant Hope school bus on Highway H, 1 mile south of Pleasant Hope.

Miss Amy Brown Crowned 2012 Dadeville Homecoming Queen

The Dadeville High School gymnasium was packed Friday night, January 27, 2012, as the Bearcats played host to the Wheatland Mules at the annual basketball homecoming.

Everton Basketball Homecoming Queen Hopefuls

Everton High School will be hosting its annual homecoming on Friday, February 10, 2012.  This year’s theme is “Under the Western Sky”.  The evening will include both a girls and boys basketball game versus the Niangua Cardinals and Lady Cardinals.  At half-time of the first game [girls], there will be an alumni reception held in the library.  All alumni are welcome to come enjoy some snacks, look through yearbooks and reminisce with friends.  Between the games, there will be awards and recognition of Everton High School Alumni.  The Homecoming Queen candidates will be introduced, and coronation will take place after the games.  Following coronation, there will be a homecoming dance.  The dance will be held in the cafeteria, and should last about two hours.  Students may purchase tickets for five dollars, or eight dollars per couple.

Cooper Maintains Evinrude Certification

January 18, 2012, Bill L. Cooper of Son Sac Marine completed a recertification class for Evinrude Outboards in Dallas, TX. The class was an intense skills test for veteran technicians. Only nine technicians attended the self-paced testing with two Bombardier Field Technical Support Managers monitoring progress. The test consisted of 20 stations of various Evinrude outboard engines with a total of 33 tasks divided among the stations. Some of the tasks involved diagnosing multiple engine failures and equated to repairing approximately 40 different malfunctioning engines. Technicians were given from Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm to complete all the assigned tasks. Bill completed the testing and received his diploma at 3:00 pm on Wednesday.
