The Greenfield Wildcats celebrated homecoming ceremonies Friday evening, September 25, just prior to the game against the visiting Sarcoxie Bears.
The Cats downed the Bears 33-0 for a homecoming victory. Greenfield’s Jamie Gray, rushed for 167 yards on 22 tries and scored 3 TD’s. Jon Riley, a senior, scored on a 35 yd. pass from Jordan Bryant, who had 106 yds. passing. Tyler Ball also added a TD in the first quarter.
Greenfield remains unbeaten at 5-0 and leading the SRVC at 4-0. They travel to Jasper (4-1) this Friday.
Highlighting the evening was the crowning of the new 2009 queen at 6:30 p.m.
Queen candidates and escorts were: Senior, Miss Shonna Armstrong, daughter of Nathan and Kaye Armstrong. She was escorted by Jamie Gray, son of Geary and Natie Gray. Junior candidate was Miss Darcy Ruark, daughter of Barry and Cheri Ruark. She was escorted by Jordan Bryant, son of Michael Bryant and Troy and Sherri Wise.
Sophomore candidate was Miss Kayla McKenzie, daughter of Kevin and Kim McKenzie. She was escorted by Tim Pope, son of Joe and Tammy Pope.
Freshman candidate was Miss Taylor Shepard, daughter of Steve and Angie Shepard. Taylor was escorted by Arek Grisham, son of Bryan Grisham and Shonna Kramer.
Senior Cheerleader, Miss Chailsee Boxberger, daughter of Pat and Doana Taylor and Eric and Rachael Boxberger, carried the football. Chailsee was escorted by Cody Lee and John Riley.
Cody is the son of Sandra Lee and John is the grandson of Hollis and Linda Johnson.
Senior Cheerleader, Miss Brittani Shields, senior cheerleader, carried the flowers. She is the daughter of Lisa Shields. Brittani was escorted by Jake Dorsett and Mark Uptegrove. Jake is the son of Mark and Linda Dorsett. Mark is the son of Terry and Kathryn Elder.
Last year’s queen, Miss Molly Killingsworth was escorted by Michael Naylor. Molly is the daughter of Mike and Susan Killingsworth and Michael is the son of Noei Naylor.
The crowd came to a complete silence as the moment everyone was waiting for had finally arrived.
Taking the honor and being crowned the new 2009 queen was Miss Shonna Armstrong.
