Starting two years ago, the Ash Grove Board of Education and administrators began making a list of things they would like to accomplish in the district. They felt that the district’s facilities should match the high quality of education offered in the district. Community meetings were held to solicit input from parents, patrons and the public in general. Eventually, a list of goals was developed and finalized. In April of 2009, patrons of the Ash Grove R-IV School District approved a $3.8 million no-tax-increase bond issue to meet the established goals. The bond issue passed with an unprecedented 90% positive vote of the public. Since that time, the school district has been working hard to achieve the goals and make improvements to the district’s educational facilities.
The majority of those goals will soon be met as the school held ground-breaking ceremonies at both Ash Grove and Bois D’ Arc for the construction of new facilities. The ceremonies were held on November 6, 2009, and all parents, patrons, PTA/PTO members, boosters, and community members were invited to attend. The ceremony at the high school—where a new main entrance, offices, and computer lab will be built—began at 10:30 a.m. on the north side of the school. The ceremony at Bois D’ Arc Elementary School—where three new classrooms and restroom facilities will be built began at 11:30 a.m. on the west side of the school. The school district is pleased to report great progress in accomplishing many goals with the great help and concerted efforts of Varsity Contractors, who have been instrumental in accomplishing so much in such a short amount of time.
The Ash Grove School District greatly appreciates the kind support of its parents and patrons. Providing the children in our schools with the best possible education is our ultimate goal, one that would be impossible to accomplish without the great community support which we enjoy. We hope that you are as proud of what has been accomplished and what will soon be accomplished as we are!
