A former Greenfield High School music teacher has been charged with having sex with a 16-year-old student.

The defendant, Alison Peck, of Mt. Vernon, allegedly committed the Class C Felony of statutory rape in the second degree and statutory sodomy, between January 2009 and April 2009.

After Dade County Sheriff Steven Stapp heard rumors about the affair in April, he contacted Sgt. Dan Nash of the Missouri State Highway Patrol to help in the investigation.

Sheriff Stapp and Sgt. Nash went to the school on April 6 and conducted interviews with Alison Peck, the victim, school staff and students.

Afterward, the reports were sent to the Dade County Prosecutor for charges to be filed.
Greenfield School Superintendent, Cheryl Mack, said that Peck was suspended when the allegations surfaced. Ms. Peck later resigned.

An arrest warrant was issued in Dade County and Peck was taken into custody on a $2,500 bond while in Springfield but immediately bonded out.

Officers then arrested Peck in Springfield on Lawrence County  charges of statutory rape and statutory sodomy charges on May 18, 2009. She was in the Greene County Jail Monday, awaiting transfer to the Lawrence County Jail. Bond was set there at $100,000.
