Man Rescued From Drowning

A 67-year old New York man was rescued from drowning on Stockton Lake about 3 p.m. Thursday when he jumped from an anchored pontoon boat to go swimming near the south end of Ruark East Bluff.

Malcom Buffington of Hartford began struggling and was thrown a life jacket by Rodger Buffington but wind blew it out of reach of the struggling man.

Rodger quickly dove into the water after Malcom went under, pulled him from the water and performed CPR.

Malcom Buffington was transported to St. John’s Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.
