Northside Package Store Destroyed By Fire

The Northside Package Store, owned by Wayne Stack of Greenfield, was heavily damaged by fire early Sunday morning with the back half of the business completely gutted.

The blaze was discoverd by Greenfield Police Officer Chris Shrum at 3:49 a.m. and a call was made for help.

Fifteen members of the Greenfield Rural Fire Department responded to the scene.

Fire Marshall, Chris Thompson of Carthage, was also called.

“The blaze was believed to be electrical starting from a cooling unit on the northeast corner and then spreading inside, Assistant Fire Chief Kerry Spain said.

A big thank you to the firefighters who responded so quickly.
