The Rex Mallory home, southeast of Greenfield, was completely destroyed by fire Wednesday evening, April 29.
Firefighters from Greenfield, Dadeville and Everton Rural Fire departments responded to the scene at 7 p.m. after receiving a call from an unidentified person passing by. The upper portion of the home was totally engulfed when firefighters arrived. They were on the scene until about 11 p.m.
The fire was rekindled by a breeze during the night and burned the remainder of the house to the ground, leaving only 2 brick walls standing.
The Mallorys were not home at the time of the blaze. Their belongings, as well as their home, were destroyed.
Cause of the blaze was not determined but lightening was considered a possibility.
