Fred and Doris Johnson, who reside on Highway CC, northeast of Greenfield, were enjoying a 35th wedding anniversary dinner in Springfield on Monday, July 20, when a call came in from their daughter, Fawn Johnson, saying that their home was burning.
Greenfield and Dadeville Rural Firefighters received the call at about 8 p.m. but the home was totally engulfed when firefighters arrived.
The home and all belongings was a total loss.
Lightening is believed to be the cause of the fire.
A big thank you from the Johnsons to all those who responded to try to help.
