John Alvin Sugg, Everton, Missouri, passed from this life on Friday, July 9, 2010, after a lingering illness at the age of 66 years.
John was born onApril 29, 1944 in Berryville, Arkansas to Jesse “Burt” and Dollie (Maxwell) Sugg. He grew up and attended school in the Berryville community. In the early 1960’s, John relocated to Springfield, Missouri and worked as a truck driver for Hoerner Waldorf Corporation, later purchased by Champion International.
On April 27, 1973, he was united in marriage to Judy Myers. In 1975, they moved to the Everton area, where they raised their children. He was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church of Everton. In 1985, John and Judy purchased Myers Gas Company and continue to operate it to the present day.
John was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He never complained about his battle with Alzheimer’s, but continued to live his life to the fullest, surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors are his wife, Judy, of Everton; his children, John A. Sugg Clark of Stinett, Texas, Cory W. Sugg and his wife, Tiffany, of Branson and April McBaine and her husband, Anthony, of Everton; four grandchildren, Madison, Dallas, Jesse and Brittany; two sisters and their husbands, Winford and Joann Plumlee and Bill and Sue Lea, all of Springfield; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Dollie and Burt; his brother, J.B. Sugg, Jr. and nephew, Steve Burkett.
Funeral services were held in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Ash Grove at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, with Rev. Kenneth Wilson officiating with interment following in Shiloh Cemetery, southwest of Everton, MO.
