Virgil Leon Johnson, of Kansas City, MO, departed this life on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the age of 83 years.

 

He was born on November 7, 1926 in Greenfield, MO to Virgil Lee and Leona (Suttee) Johnson. Leon served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Donna Fite on August 10, 1957 at the Bona Church of Christ in Bona, MO. Leon worked as a Manager for G.M. for 34 years.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandchild, Jax Johnson.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Johnson of the home; two sons, Eric Johnson and his wife, Linda of Exeter, CA and Reagan Johnson of the home;  three grandchildren, Sevee, Rhett and Cort Johnson of Exeter, CA; one brother, Larry Johnson and his wife, Karen of Napa, CA; one sister, Doris Jones and her husband, Murl of South Greenfield, MO; brother-in-law, Johnny Fite and his wife, Pam of Freemont Hills, MO; sister-in-law, Rozanne Sparks and her husband, Jerry of Frontenac, KS; sister-in-law, Emmy Fite of Pittsburg, KS and many nieces and nephews.

 

Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Greenfield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnson Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Greenfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or to the Greenfield High School Alumni Association. Services were under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
