Greenfield Track & Field Concludes With State Medals

Members of the Greenfield track teams competed in the 2010 Missouri State High School Track and Field Championships on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday, May 21st and 22nd.

 State qualifiers competing on Friday for the Wildcats included a 4x800 meter relay team comprised of freshman Austin Emery, sophomore Dustin Preston, Junior Scotty McMasters, and Senior Josh Sipes. Also, senior Jordan Bryant triple jumped and Sophomore Britton Black ran the 200-meter dash to close men’s action on Friday.
The Ladies qualified a 4x400-meter relay squad that has been a combination of all of the sprinting members of the team, including freshman Samantha Walker, sophomores Darby Bartlett, Kameron Davis and Andrea Mason., and senior Jessica Pecor. Although none of the competitors on Friday fared well enough to qualify for finals, their finish for the year places them among the top 16 competitors in the state in class 1A.

 

Saturday saw Bryant and Mason competing in the long jump and high jump respectively. Both athletes competed at 11am in front of the Dwight T Reed Stadium grandstand and both athletes brought home third place bronze medals. Bryant, with a personal record 20 feet ten inch long jump and Mason with a season best 5-foot high jump.

Wildcat and Lady Wildcat track and field teams competed in eight regular season meets during the 2010 season, with much success. Every member of both squads earned points for the team during at least two meets throughout the year. Members of the Wildcats were Seniors Jordan Bryant, Josh Sipes, and Jason Anderson, juniors Tyler Ball and Scotty McMasters, sophomores Dustin Preston and Britton Black, and Freshmen Tyler Boyd, Jake and Jonathan Anderson, and Austin Emery. The Lady Wildcats included senior Jessica Pecor, sophomores Darby Bartlett, Emily Daniel, Christina Thomas, Andrea Mason, Kameron Davis, and Kayla McKenzie, and Freshmen Audrey LaSalle and Samantha Walker.
