On June 17-19, 2010, the Greenfield High School Varsity Cheerleading squad attended a three day UCA summer commute camp at Carthage High School. During camp the girls were taught several cheers, chants and dances, and each day various awards were given. These ladies worked hard each day as a team and encouraged each other and other squads, and exemplified the qualities of Leadership, Values and Teamwork on which a team should be built.

On day one, the squad was evaluated on their performance of the Camp Cheer and received a Red “Excellent” Ribbon. The squad also brought home the Spirit Stick. The Spirit Stick is given to the team with the most spirit and the ability to work together. Jessika Bishop, Cori Austin, Kameron Davis, and Kelsie Henry competed in the Jump Off contest. During this contest several girls from each squad demonstrated their best cheer jump. The UCA camp staff members chose one girl to be crowned the Jumping Queen based on the jump technique. Kameron Davis took home this crown.

On day two, the squad received a Blue “Superior” Ribbon on their performance of the Camp Xtreme Routine. This was a dance that the squad learned at camp and they had to perform for the first half of the routine, and the girls had to incorporate their own dance or stunts to complete the routine. The squad brought home the Spirit Stick again and also brought home the biggest camp honor, The Banana. This award was given out each day to the squad that demonstrated the most spirit and enthusiasm, worked well together, and was kind and courteous to other squads.

On day three, the squad was evaluated one last time on the Camp Cheer and Camp Xtreme Routine. This time the squad brought home a Blue “Superior” Ribbon for the Cheer, and a Gold “Superior” Ribbon for the Xtreme Routine. There was also a Dancing Diva competition, where all camp participants began performing the Xtreme Dance and if they messed up they sat down. The last girl left dancing was crowned the Dancing Diva. Jessika Bishop took home this honor. The girls also brought home the Spirit Stick, the Most Improved trophy, the Camp Cheer Champions trophy, and the Leadership Award. The Leadership Award was voted on by all the squads at camp, and was based on who they felt demonstrated the most leadership.

A huge individual award that was passed out the last day was the All-American Nominees. Several individuals from each squad were selected and given the opportunity to tryout for an All-American squad. Bringing home this honor were Jessika Bishop, Cori Austin, Kylee Shepard, and Paige Hargis.

Congratulations to the squad on your outstanding teamwork and dedication!
