Congratulations go to 3 area high school basketball players for being named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches  Association All State team for 2009-2010. The three are Brock Toler, Sr. and Zach Medley, Jr., Dadeville, whose Bearcat team took third in Class 1 boys and Hannah Wilkerson, Sr., Miller. The Cardinals won third in Class 2 girls. Coach of the year in Class 1 boys went to Pilot Grove and the Class 2 girls coach went to Harrisburg, the state champ. Two players from Scott County Central the Class 1 boys champ made 1st team. Brad Shorter, a Lockwood native,  was named coach of the year in Class 4 girls with his Webb City girls winning the crown.

Boys baseball has begun with teams trying to schedule games around the rain and snow. Miller is set in Class 2 while Dadeville, Lockwood and Greenfield will compete in Class 1. Everton has a ball field but  does not field a team but takes part in track.

Dadeville won the Polk County League in 2009 and could win again in 2010. Brent  Rountree is the coach. Greenfield, under coach Kevin McKenzie, won the district in 2009 and returns two pitchers. They will compete in the SRVC.  Lockwood was 8-8 in 2009 and returns some veterans and youngsters. Clay Lasater is the Tiger coach. Miller won the SRVC title in 2009  but graduated several key players. Coach Dan Barnett will host the Miller tournament.
