Loretta Speight

Loretta Speight, age 83, of Dadeville, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
She was born on November 29, 1934, in Fair Play, Missouri to Beryl and Eunice (Pickering) Potts. Loretta was a graduate of Fair Play High School and Springfield Draughon Business College. She lived in Stockton, Missouri, for several years and was employed at the Cedar County Courthouse.

Loretta married Carl Speight on March 17, 1972, and moved to Dadeville, Missouri. She enjoyed working on the farm, raising cattle, gardening, fishing, and her friends and family.
Loretta was a member of the Dadeville United Methodist Church, where she served as the Sunday School Superintendent and the Church Treasurer for several years. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery as the secretary and treasurer. Loretta was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron. She was a member of the Chapter #456 in Jerico Springs, Missouri.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Beryl and Eunice Potts; her sister-in-law, Ella Mae Vanhooser.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Speight; her aunt, Mary J. Hill; her brother-in-law, Billy Vanhooser; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ann Speight; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, in the Dadeville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery.
