George William Chilcutt

George William Chilcutt, Bolivar, Missouri, son of the late Leonard Lafayette and Gladys Esther Chilcutt, was born on March 2, 1928, in Elwood, Missouri. George passed away at the age of 90 peacefully at home on Friday, January 4, 2019, with the love of his life, Laura Erma, by his side.

George graduated from Ash Grove public schools and served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 in the Korean War. He married Laura Erma Brown on February 14, 1953 and they were blessed with seven children.

George enjoyed his 32-year career at Hallmark Cards. George utilized a wide range of skills from electrical to mechanical at both work and home. He was good provider for his family. George was a true problem solver and fixer of all things. George shared his love of nature and the outdoors with his family and Boy Scouts over the years.

George and Erma were married 66 years and had seven children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. George loved to read and had an amazing memory. He was inventive and creative and never met a stranger. George was active in his church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri, where he served as a deacon. George accepted Christ as his Saviour at age 13 and lovingly served God and his family throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kathy Ellen Chilcutt, and sisters Evelyn Duncan, Lois Luna, Charlotte Aries, and Joetta Phelan.

His friendly spirit and beautiful life will be missed and cherished forever by his wife, Laura Erma, and children: David Chilcutt and wife, Vickie; Vickie Stanley and husband, John; Craig Chilcutt and wife, Karla; Linda Glasgow and husband, Shane; Janet Tweedy and husband, Craig; and Julia Reed and husband, Randy.

Services for George Chilcutt were held Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.

Graveside Services were held in the Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, Missouri. Memorial Contributions can be made in George’s honor to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri.
