Elizabeth “Betty” Crutcher

Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Crutcher, of Greenfield, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Willard Care Center in Willard, Missouri, at the age of 90 years.

She was born on July 22, 1928, in Buena Vista, Colorado, to Walter Ottis and Rose Lowell (Nipps) Martin. Betty graduated from Arcola High School, and received her Teaching Certificate from Southwest Missouri State Teacher’s College. She was united in marriage to Floyd Crutcher on September 25, 1948, in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Betty was instrumental in founding, along with Mina Rector, the Dade County Health Department. She worked there for 33 years, finishing her career as the Administrator.
Betty was a member of the Dade County Connections, the Greenfield Literary and Civic Club, the Dade County American Cancer Society, and the Dade County Genealogical Society. She enjoyed researching genealogy and refinishing furniture. Betty adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ottis and Lowell Martin; her husband, Floyd Crutcher; two brothers, Danny Ottis Martin and David Martin; and one sister, Margaret Decker.

Survivors include four children: Dan Crutcher and wife, Nancy, of Willard, Missouri; Susan Crutcher of Prescott, Arizona; Kristi Wilson and husband, Sam, of Stockton, Missouri; and Sam Crutcher and wife, Sandra, of Greenfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Matt Crutcher and wife, Amanda, of Fair Grove, Missouri; Jared Crutcher of Springfield, Missouri; Evangelique Ioannides of Ridgedale, Missouri; Stephen Ioannides and wife, Megan, of Ozark, Missouri; Aubrey Wilson of Branson, Missouri; Ashley Wilson and wife, Julie, of Greenfield, Missouri; Amanda Crutcher and Seth Hargis of Greenfield, Missouri; and Falyn Crutcher of Greenfield, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Freewill Baptist Missions or to the American Cancer Society Dade County Relay For Life.
