March 26, 2019

Joe Kyle Fox, 90, of Stockton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Lake Stockton Nursing Home.
Joe, the son of Omer and Edna (Bell) Fox, was born on the farm south of Stockton on January 28, 1929. After graduation from high school, Joe and his family moved to Kansas City. He was foreman at Benson’s Manufacturing for many years.
While he liked his job, his first love was baseball. With three boys, he spent most of his time at the ball field coaching Kyle and Joe, with Mike as bat boy.

In 1972, they moved back to Dade County where he painted and did odd jobs. He milked cows, raised pigs and put up hay for several years, where many local boys will remember the long hot days and late night hauling.
He continued his love of baseball by umpiring many games where Mike said he was consistent in calling low strikes. He finished his working years as truck driver for Pennington Seed.
After his retirement and the death of his brother, Loren, he moved back to his parents’ home on South Street in Stockton, where he could be seen on the front porch swinging and waving at all the passersby. Known for his gardening, he often had as many as 50 tomato plants a year.
He was a member of the Optimist Club and hosted many garage sales. Joe was baptized on December 21, 2008 and became a member of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Stockton.
