Vera Joyce Bourgeous

Vera Joyce Bourgeous, of Parker, Colorado, passed away October 15, 2015 in Parker, Colorado, at the age of 90.

She was born August 30, 1925, in Neola, Missouri, to Samuel Grant and Lula Marie (Martin) Hughes. Joyce spent her early years in the rural farming community of Neola, just a few miles north of Greenfield.

At age 8, she moved with the family to Arizona, where she graduated from high school. It was here that she met Banks Bourgeous and they were married January 3, 1942. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joyce was a career bookkeeper and office manager, including a 19 year stint (age 66-85) at the Greenfield Insurance office of Ronald and Mary McConnell.

In 2010 she moved to Parker, Colorado, living with her daughter, Pam and family. At the time of her passing, she resided at the Crown Crest of Parker Nursing home. Among her many passions were numerous trips and cruises with her sister, Lorene; visiting her children and grandchildren; and reading.

Joyce is survived by three of her six children, Clarence Grant Bourgeous (wife, Robin), Pamela Joyce Moser (husband, Craig), and Lynett Marie Bourgeous (husband, Michael); daughter-in-law, Kathy Bourgeous, numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her sister, Lorene Stapp (husband, Ken); and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Banks Bourgeous; children, Dale Bourgeous, Wayne Bourgeous, and Lyle Bourgeous; siblings, Bernice Marshall, Martin Hughes, and Thomas Hughes; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Ryan Bourgeous.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
