Michael Ray “Mike” King

Michael Ray "Mike" King, 66, died Sunday, August 28,2016, in Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, Kansas.

He was born January 11,1950, to Morris Rowe and Thetia (Freeze) King in Greenfield, Missouri.

He married Kelly Wellman Stanton on September 3,1990, in Liberal. She survives.

After graduation, Mike was drafted in 1969 into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. He served in Vietnam and received two Purple Heart honors.

He was employed by National Beef Packing Plant as a transportation director, retiring in March after 30 years of service.

Mike also served on LEPC Liberal Emergency Planning Committee for several years.

In addition to his wife of almost 26 years, Mike is survived by his mother, Thetia King Lowry, Everton; daughters; Cassy Reece, Pittsburg; Michelle Adkins, Arma, Oklahoma; Nic-hole King, Miami, Oklahoma; and Christian Myers, Oklahoma; sisters: Carol King Burnum and husband, Jack, Springfield, Missouri; Marsha King Roy and husband, Mark, Willard, Missouri; brother, David King and wife, Tammy, Everton, Missouri; and mother-in-law, Barbara Wellman, Liberal, Kansas.
