Emma Henry Carnagey

Emma Henry Smith Carnagey, age 96, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 4:45 p.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. She was born August 2, 1920, in McAfee, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Sidney Payne and Fannie Fabra (Butner) Smith.

Emma was a 1939 graduate of Miller High School and attended Business College in Springfield, Missouri, for two years. She was the cafeteria supervisor for the Miller Schools District and was a member of the Miller First Baptist Church and New Home Baptist Church.

On March 23, 1940, she married Earl Harold Carnagey in Neosho, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Stober and her husband, Scott, of Leeton, Missouri; two sons, Larry Carnagey and his wife, JoAnn, of Carthage, Missouri and Pete Carnagey and his wife, Barbara, of Everton, Missouri; one brother, Hugh Smith, of Ozark, Missouri; three sisters: Margaret Phillips of Raytown, Missouri; Frances Gibson of Mt. Vernon; and Ruth Green of Walhalla, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Frannie Carnagey, of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Sidney and Fannie; husband, Earl; two sons, Sidney Lawrence Carnagey and Earl Carnagey; and three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

A memorial service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the New Home Baptist Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Pennsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the church.
