Thelma Lee Rountree

Thelma Lee Rountree, 91, of Augusta, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at home.

Thelma was born in Greenfield, Missouri, on January 24, 1926, to the late Elsie (Boyd) and Olind Killingsworth.

On October 4, 1947, she married Robert J. "Bob" Rountree in Mt Vernon, Missouri. He preceded her in death after 59 devoted years of marriage.
Thelma was a member of the First Christian Church, Augusta, Kansas, for many years. Thelma, along with her late husband, Bob, have owned Augusta Dairy Queen since 1953, passing on the business to their sons in 1987.

She was so thankful for the support of the Augusta community. Bob and Thelma were very active in the Shrine. They were members of the Midian Shrine Temple and the Butler County Shrine Club.

She is survived by: sons, Ross Rountree and wife, Kathy, of Nixa, Missouri; Rex Rountree and wife, Rhonda, of Augusta; and Kim Rountree and wife, Betsy, of Augusta; sister, Thora Frieze of Augusta; brother, Calvin Killingsworth (Joan) of Torrens Park, Australia; grandchildren: Scott (Cindy) Rountree, Marnie Jones, Jennifer Londagin (Justin), Rebecca Metcalf (Brandon), and Jimmy Rountree; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Headley Funeral Home, Augusta, Kansas. Services were held Thursday, May 18, 2017, at First Christian Church, Augusta. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
