Marilyn Dolores Dodson

Marilyn “Dolores” Dodson, 87, entered into eternal peace on Sunday September 24, 2017, at the Saint Louis University Medical Center Hospital.

Dolores was born on May 28, 1930, in Halfway, Missouri, the daughter of the late Franklin and Letha Davison. She graduated high school in 1946, and by 1965, she had obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education, which prepared her for a 40-plus-year career educating and guiding children and young people in elementary and middle school settings concluding with 10 years in the Missouri Department of Family Services working to protect children and unite families.
She married James Dodson in December 1951. They embarked on a long and happy journey together enjoying over 65 years of marriage, companionship, family life, faith journey, and professional life. To all who knew them, they were the inseparable “Jim and Dolores.”

She leaves her memory to be cherished by her faithful and loving husband, Jim Dodson; her daughter, Jama Dodson; her son, David Dodson; her grandson, Joel Dodson and his wife, Kristi; her great-grandson, James Anthony Dodson—all from St. Louis, Missouri; and her sister, Jeanne Osborne, of Raytown, Missouri.

A celebration of Dolores’s life was held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday September 30, 2017. Visitation was held at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the Celebration of Life service began at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at the cemetery of the Eudora Baptist Church in Eudora, Missouri.
