Auston C. Lewis, 86, of Greenfield, Missouri, passed away Monday November 6, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

He was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, on August 1, 1931, to Ethel Atkins and Henry Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel West; his father, Henry Lewis; his grandmother, Annie Atkins; his aunt Barbara Newton; wife, Lila Lewis; and son, Timmie Lewis.

Auston is survived by his wife, Linda Lewis, of the home; son, Perry Lewis of Greenfield; daughter, Teresa Cozart and husband, Brian, of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Peggy Lewis; step-daughter, Jennifer Thompson and husband, Chris; four grandsons: Charles Lewis and Ginny Winters of Parsons, Kansas; Steven Lewis and wife, Tiffany, of Greenfield; Nicholas Cozart of Little Rock, Arkansas; John Cauthon, of Fort Scott, Kansas; step-grandson, Jason Purkey of Apple Valley, California; two granddaughters: Stacy Bergthold and husband, Tony, of Greenfield; Hannah Cozart of Little Rock, Arkansas; and two step-granddaughters: Ashley Carlette and husband, Jonah, of Richland, North Carolina and Lindsay Purkey of Apple Valley, California.

Nine great grandchildren: Shea, Dava, Blain, Kylee Lewis, Dominic Bergthold and Keaton Jones, Sabrina and Jodie Lewis, and Clayton Carlette.

Services were held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Cheney-Witt Mortuary in Fort Scott, Kansas.

A celebration of Auston’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Dade County Senior Center from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. We want all to come and tell how Auston touched their lives or funny little stories and the family has a lot to share.
