Ruby Casada Scroggs

Ruby Casada Scroggs passed away November 17, 2018, at the age of 99. Ruby was born September 10, 1919, to Walter and Elma Wymore Casada in Dade County, one of nine siblings.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Gilbert; her parents; and sisters Lucy Smith, Lillian Von Sander, Madaline Boyd Fouser, Barbara Russell, and brothers Alden, Bernard and Richard.
She is survived by son, Stephen (Myra); daughter, Jane Hawks (Lynton); sister, Nancy Roy; grandchildren: Derk Hawks, Cara Adolphsen, Laura Spencer, and Sara Korman; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Ruby graduated from Greenfield High School as salutatorian and lived in South Greenfield after her marriage to Gilbert.
During WWII, they traveled to Kansas, Washington and California where Gilbert worked in construction. Upon returning to South Greenfield, where they raised their family, they were faithful members of the Baptist Church of South Greenfield where Ruby served as treasurer and taught Sunday school.
Ruby always loved to read and served on the Library Board in Greenfield. She worked in the soil testing lab for the County Agent, and helped Gilbert manage their farm.
After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Texas. Twelve years ago when health dictated, Ruby and Gilbert moved to a healthcare facility in Springfield.
