Lawrence James Huser

Lawrence James Huser, 101, of Lockwood, Missouri, died on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility surrounded by family.
He was born on June 29, 1917 in Berne, Indiana to Peter and Lilly (Gerber) Huser. Lawrence was raised in western Kansas along with his seven siblings: Ada, Charley, Frank, Wilbert, Mabel, Betty, and John.
He was married to Noma Hines on April 4, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. To this union five children were born: Frances (Renie), Mike, Joe, Mary, and Jack.
Lawrence was a “jack-of-all” trades. He drove trucks for various farmers along with Southwest Freight. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a B24 mechanic. After the war, he worked for the Frisco Railroad in Kansas City, Missouri. Lawrence and Noma moved to the Lockwood area in 1947, where he worked for Otto and Ida Von Stroh, milking cows and as a mechanic for appliances and implements. He tried his hand at farming but faced two years of drought and then too much rain. In 1957, the family moved to the city of Lockwood and Lawrence continued his John Deere mechanic’s career, working until 1982.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; his wife Noma in 1986; and his grandson, Dale, in 2014.
He is survived by his children: Frances (Renie) Jones, Mike (Nina) Huser, Joe (Donna) Huser, Mary (Frank) Irving, and Jack (Myra) Huser; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Huser; and many nieces and nephews.
