Olevia Lucille Diefenderfer

September 09, 2015

Olevia Lucille Diefenderfer departed this life on September 6, 2015, at 7:40 a.m., in Good Shepherd Nursing Home at age 90.

She is in a far better place to be with her heavenly Savior and to see her husband whom she has missed since 1984. She was a strong little woman who suffered with pain for several years but would never complain until the last months when her health failed her.

She was a devout Christian woman who loved the Bible. She was a caring wife and the best mother you could ever ask for.

Olevia was born on February 4, 1925, to Len and Cleora Farmer. She was one of eight children. She had four brothers: Harold, Tom, Norman, Robert (Tiny) and two sisters: Nadine and Idabelle who preceded her in death. Rosalee is the only surviving sibling who lives in Florida. They stayed in touch by phone until just recently when it was hard to communicate for too long because of Olevias failing health.

She attended grade school and high school but dropped out of high school to marry Orville (Lefty) Diefenderfer on February 7, 1942. They lived on a farm south of Jerico Springs and attended Cedarville Church. Their only offspring, Larry, was born on March 31, 1949.

When her husband, Lefty died in May 1984 at the age of 63 years old, Olevia moved to Lockwood to a house on Olive Street. She retired from OSullivans in Lamar and later worked at Johns which later became the Harvest Table.

She was a member of Lockwood Christian Church and often went on the OATS bus to Greenfield; she has been in the nursing home since November 2014. She had recently been in Mercy Hospital in Springfield three times since the middle of July 2015.

Also surviving are two granddaughters, Kristin & Kara and several grandchildren including, Emily, Ethan of Lockwood. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Dorothy & Catherine and several nieces and nephews.

Also included is Bobbi Brummett who is a wonderful neighbor and friend. Bobbi and her late husband were Angels from Heaven who helped any way they could. Larry has two friends Clarence and Mike Brummett who became half-brothers that he never had.

Services will be Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in Lockwood Christian Church with burial in Anna Edna Cemetery. Visitation Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the church.
