Annetta Margaret Poirot
Annetta Margaret Poirot, 90, of rural Golden City, Missouri, died September 12, 2015, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born August 31, 1925, in Memphis, Tennessee, to John W. Meyer and Annetta (Jarboe) Meyer. She grew up in St Louis, Missouri and graduated with a degree in elementary education from University of Missouri in 1948.
Annetta married Severin E. Poirot May 7, 1948, in Columbia, Missouri and together they moved to the Poirot family farm in 1950. In addition to raising five children, Annetta pursued genealogy, tracing hers and Severins family history to the 18th century.
She also enjoyed painting, drawing, knitting, scrapbooking, playing Christmas carols in July, collecting anything that was red, and reading. She was an avid fan of the music of Scott Joplin.
In addition to Severin, Annetta is survived by her five children: Severin (Venecia) Poirot (Republic, Missouri); Michael (Patricia) Poirot (Miller, Missouri); Mary (David) Jones; Jonathan Poirot; and Christopher Poirot (all of Greenfield, Missouri). Also surviving are grandchildren: Justin (Deidre), Benjamin (Courtney), Marie, Nina, Lathan, Andy and Leanne, great-grandchildren: Lucy, Alexander, Allysum and Garrett.
The family gratefully thanks the compassionate caregivers of Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood Missouri, who sang, spoke German, and in other ways took such good care of Annetta the past several years.
Memorials may be given to the charity of choice. Graveside services were 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Lockwood Cemetery in Lockwood, Missouri. Visitation was 7:00- 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Pugh Funeral Home in Golden City.
