Jerry Lee Evatt

Jerry Lee Evatt, 67, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, died peacefully September 20, 2015, at the Good Shephard Nursing Home in Lockwood, Missouri, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry was born February 24, 1948, in Mt. Vernon to Wanda Evatt. Later in life Wanda married Don Wolf and he was like a father to Jerry.

Jerry graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1966. He was drafted and served in the United States Army in the Third Armored Division. He was proud to have served his country. He worked at the 3M Company in Springfield until retirement.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Wanda (Evatt) Wolf. Survivors include one daughter, Amy (Evatt) Banta and her husband, Benjamin, of Greenfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Kayl Banta and Beau Banta and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jerry was a loving father and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. He was an amazing pool player, enjoyed fishing, and making fishing lures.

Jerry gave his life to the Lord on May 13, 2015. His daughter had the privilege of taking care of him for several months until he went to the Good Shephard Nursing Home in Lockwood. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shephard Nursing Home for all the kindness and wonderful care he received.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial with full military honors followed at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Good Shephard Nursing Home in memory of Jerry Evatt in care of the funeral home.
