Martha M. Kitchen

Martha Margaret Hembree Kitchen born September 24, 1922, in Dadeville, Missouri. She died on April 8, 2015, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 92.

She was the third child of Willis L. Hembree and Luella (Dollie) Sweet Hembree. She graduated from Greenfield High School in May of 1942. This was early on during World War II.

After graduation, she and her friend, Myrl Beach, went to Michigan where Myrls sister and her family lived. Thinking that she needed to do something to help the war effort, Martha got a job at the Willow Run bomber plant where she was a riveter on B24 bombers being built.

She met and married Glenn Q. Kitchen in Michigan. They were married 44 years until his passing on August 13, 1988.

After the war was over, Martha worked for the Chrysler Corporation as an executive secretary for 24 years. Glenn worked for the Ford Motor Company.

When they retired, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, to be near their son, Kim Kitchen, who had just gotten out of the Marine Corps.

Martha was a very active member at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christ, serving on several committees for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Q. Kitchen; her parents, Willis L. and Luella Hembree; three brothers: Herbert Oscar Hembree, Howard Percy Hembree and Hugh Lawson Hembree; three nephews: Donald Eugene Hembree, Jerry Lee Hembree and Charles Wendell Hembree.

She is survived by her son, Kim Q. Kitchen and wife, Becky; granddaughter, Tiffany (Will) Mokuiki; great-grandchildren: Jay, Melanie, Emmerson and Keoni; one sister, Frances Hudspeth of South Greenfield, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at 12 noon on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel with Officiant Reverend Allen Mosiman of Parkway Presbyterian Church. Interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.
