Loyd Winton Hargis

Loyd Winton Hargis, of Greenfield, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2015, in his home at the age of 89 years.

He was born on February 17, 1926 near Neola, Missouri, to James Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Killingsworth) Hargis.

Winton served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime cattleman. Winton became a Christian in 2000.

He was united in marriage to Jewell Judy Routh in 1954 while living and working in Kansas City. Two children were born to this union. Winton and Judy shared 55 years of married life together before she passed away on February 5, 2011.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, James and Elizabeth Hargis; one sister, Francis Plumb and her husband Mark; and two brothers, Harvey Hargis and Walter Buster Hargis.

Survivors include his daughter, Deann Miller and her husband, Charles; his son, Blain Hargis and his wife, Gena; and three grandchildren: Jolene Standley and her husband, Shawn; Jennifer Feller and her husband, Douglas; and Chase Hargis and his wife, Lexi. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Lakin Standley, Kinder Standley, Ashby Feller, and Maxen Feller; one brother, Charles Hargis; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Hargis and Marge Hargis; one brother-in-law, Billy Routh; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Greenfield Cemetery. Friends called at their convenience on Friday morning until service time in the funeral chapel.
