White, Kelley to Provide Newspaper Subscriptions to Local Schools

by James McNary, Articles Editor

Starting in January 2020, all school libraries in The Vedette coverage area will have a subscription delivered to their school library, guaranteeing students access to a printed copy of the paper each week. This is courtesy of funding provided by state Sen. Bill White and state Rep. Ann Kelley, in cooperation with The Vedette.

“It is a great honor to be able to be part of providing newspapers to the schools,” said Kelley. “Education is and will always be close to my heart and a priority. I will do anything to help schools, teachers, and students.”

“Education is the key building block of success. I’m pleased to be able to assist in providing newspapers to our area schools,” said White. “A great educational resource that keeps students up to date on their communities.”

“Once it was discovered that some local school districts did not have access to their weekly paper I knew that had to be remedied. I want to thank Mr. White and Mrs. Kelley for sponsoring this project without hesitation,” said Vedette Editor Gina Langston.
