Hartzler Statement on Missouri Receiving Federal Funding to Combat Coronavirus

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) issued the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is disbursing nearly $9.9 million to the state of Missouri to bolster efforts responding to COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus:

“After Congress passed, with my support, a supplemental bill to appropriate nearly $8.4 billion to the coronavirus response, I’m pleased that our Missouri state agencies are receiving this funding. From the onset of the COVID-19 spread, my office has been in communication with the Missouri Health and Senior Services regarding Missouri’s preparedness to respond to the coronavirus. They’ve assured us with high confidence that Missouri is ready, but these additional monies will allow an expansive ability to prevent, treat, and contain the virus, if needed.

“After the first case in Missouri was confirmed near St. Louis over the weekend, Missourians realize we are not immune from this outbreak. I am hopeful there will not be a significant spread throughout our state; I am thankful these additional funds will be available to keep Missourians safe,” Hartzler said.
