March 21, 2020

The Dade County Sheriff's Office has released a statement that a rural Dade County pre-teen child died this morning, March 21, 2020. At this time, the cause of death does not appear to be from COVID-19 infection and there were no obvious signs of foul play.

"The Dade County Sheriff's Office is sad to release that an 11-year-old-child has died here in Dade County," Sheriff Max Huffman said in a statement.

The sheriff's office responded Saturday morning to a call in rural Dade County to find the child was deceased. The individual had pre-existing health issues and showed no apparent symptoms related to COVID-19 infection.

"At this time, please pray for the family and respect their privacy during this terrible time in their lives," said Huffman.
