Agencies, Volunteers Partner With Supermarkets to Provide Grocery Deliveries for Residents At-Risk From COVID-19

March 23, 2020

The Dade County Sheriff's Office, Greenfield Police Department, all Dade County fire protection organizations, Dade County First Responders, numerous volunteers, Muncy's Supermarket in Lockwood and SummerFresh Supermarket in Greenfield are coming together to provide a service to those in the community that, due to health concerns, are at greater risk from being exposed to COVID-19 infection.

"If you know of someone who needs help, please get this information to them," said Max Huffman, Dade County Sheriff.

Lockwood

Deliveries of basic grocery necessities from Muncy's will be made on Tuesdays and Thursdays: from 1-3 p.m., call 417-232-4216 and ask to place an order for home delivery. Payment by credit or debit card can be accepted over the phone or arrangements can be made to pay by check (no cash can be accepted).

Orders will be processed and items decontaminated. When ready, firefighters or first responders will be cleared by temperature reading to make the delivery. They will knock on the door and once they see somebody coming to open the door, they well set the ordered items down and leave without any further contact.

For those unable to take their orders inside on their own, please notify the store of the need for assistance so the individual making the delivery can prepare ahead of time with proper personal protective gear (remember, facemasks are currently in short supply).

Greenfield

Deliveries of basic grocery necessities from SummerFresh will be made on Mondays and Wednesdays: from 7-9 a.m., call 417-637-2160 and ask to place an order for home delivery. Payment by credit or debit card can be accepted over the phone or arrangements can be made to pay by check (no cash can be accepted).

Orders will be processed and items decontaminated. At about 3 p.m., when orders should be ready, firefighters or first responders will be cleared by temperature reading to make the delivery. They will knock on the door and once they see somebody coming to open the door, they well set the ordered items down and leave without any further contact.

For those unable to take their orders inside on their own, please notify the store of the need for assistance so the individual making the delivery can prepare ahead of time with proper personal protective gear (facemasks are currently in short supply here, too).
