Online Brief: Springfield, Greene County Issue Stay-At-Home Orders

Stay-at-home orders for 30 days have just been issued by the city of Springfield and Greene County. The orders, to take effect by Thursday, March 26, were issued by Mayor Ken McClure and County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon, during a joint news conference the afternoon of March 24.

This includes the portions of the Walnut Grove and Ash Grove communities that are within Greene County.

This comes as two deaths have now been confirmed in Greene County in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, both elderly residents of an assisted living facility. Of the 18 cases so far confirmed in Greene County, three individuals have now recovered from COVID-19 infection.

Those who live within the city of Springfield and all of Greene County are being instructed to remain at home, except for essential activities or for work in essential businesses. Those who commute to Springfield or elsewhere in Greene County are being asked not to report to work unless employed in an essential business.
