DCHD Confirms Second COVID-19 Case in Dade County

The Dade County Health Department this evening (July 8) announced that a second laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 has been found in a Dade County resident. The individual is currently isolated in their home, and the DCHD will determine any close contacts that may have been exposed to the virus and will provide them with guidance on how to monitor for symptoms.

The individual did not visit any public locations in Dade County while potentially infectious. To protect the privacy of the individual, no personally identifiable information will be released.

COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It spreads between people who are in close contact with one another. 

“We consider our community fortunate to have kept our positives at a minimum,” says administrator Pamela Allen. “Our community members are working hard at staying home, wearing masks, and keeping a physical distance from others.”

She adds, “It is very important for anyone who is sick to stay home, away from other people, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We must each do our part to protect everyone in our community.”
