Latest from Liberty Utilities-Empire District Regarding Peaking Issues

February 17, 2021

From Liberty Utilities Central (The Empire District Electric Company):

ATTENTION LIBERTY ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS – Noon, February 17, 2021 Update:

Peak Advisory Extended to noon Friday, February 19 - At this time, conditions remain stable and there are NO controlled service interruptions planned. However, Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is still at Energy Emergency Level 2. We will extend our Peak Advisory for Liberty Electric customers to noon Friday, February 19. We’re following SPP guidance and doing our part to help our regional power grid, which remains strained. All of these efforts are to help avoid longer, uncontrolled service interruptions. Our current extreme weather conditions are forecast to improve by Friday. Your efforts to conserve energy are working and we are so grateful! Please continue to watch for updates on this page. We’ve also seen several questions regarding our partner SPP. You can find helpful information on their website at https://spp.org/.
