Horton (Junior) King,

Horton (Junior) King, 83, Platte Woods, Missouri, was born January 19, 1938 at Aldrich, Missouri, to Horton and Ruth (Sunderland) King and passed away August 6, 2021 in North Kansas City, Missouri from complications of pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis.
After graduation at Dadeville High School, he worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, Illinois. After serving in the U.S. Army, he married Patricia Christner on August 4, 1963. They moved to Kansas City where he was employed as a barber for several years before working for Builders Hardware. His last 18 years of employment were with the Park Hill School District.
Preceding him in death were his son, Christopher; his parents; his brothers, Morris and Robert Elwood; and his sisters Rose, Eileen, and Mary (Carns). He is survived by his wife, Patricia King of Platte Woods, Missouri; son, John King and wife, Debbie, of Shawnee, Kansas; grandsons Tyler Hollenkamp of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Michael King of Toledo, Ohio; John Alexander King of Shawnee, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. and memorial service at 2 p.m. will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the First Methodist Church in Lockwood, Missouri.
Burial will be at Bona Cemetery, 4 Bona Loop Aldrich, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1441 NE Englewood Rd., Kansas City, MO 64118 or one’s favorite charity.
