James Edward White

James Edward White, of Everton, Missouri, was born September 4 1943 to Carl and Marie (Beasley) White. He died February 9, 2022 at his home at the age of 78.

He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1961, then attended Vocational Technical School in Springfield where he earned an associate’s degree. James was a mechanical engineer who specialized in designing commercial food machinery and held eight patents.

He married Shirley Kay Wilson on November 27, 1965 in Everton, Missouri. She survives. They had one son, Steven Ross White. James is survived by his son, Steven (Kathryn) White; four grandchildren, Cassondra, Liam, Colton, and Whitney; one brother, Ken (Marguerite) White; four sisters, Carol (Don) Keys, Fern (Norman) Burns, JoEtta (John) Gleason, and Ruth (Tom) Wilkins; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by this parents, Carl and Marie White; one brother, Elton White; and one sister, Hazel Cripps.

James was a co-founder of the Harvesters Food Bank in Kansas City and an elder for the Hillcrest Christian Church in Overland Park, Kansas and the Park Crest Christian Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age and was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Gum Springs Cemetery. No formal visitation was held, but family and friends were welcome to view and pay their respects at their convenience on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time in the funeral chapel.
