Genevieve Darlene Pede
Our hearts ache with the passing of Genevieve D. Pede. She left this world on October 22, 2022. She will be greatly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Born February 16, 1934, to Joseph and Geneva (Kunckle) Srna at Delphas, Kansas.
Her parents instilled in her kindness and caring. She graduated from high school and attended the former Brown Mackey School of Business, Salina, Kansas. It was during this time that she met her future husband, James E. Pede and they were married October 23, 1955, in Tescott, Kansas. They were married for 67 years. She worked as an administrative assistant, wherever Dad’s job took them around the country. She loved to crochet and knit. We loved the smell in the house of fresh baked bread and cherry pie that she so enjoyed making. Soft spoken, but with a quick wit, she kept her card playing partners guessing with her sharp mind.
Mom and Dad always said they would take whatever God would give them for a family. They were blessed with four children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and loved them all dearly.
She is survived by her loving family, husband James Pede Sr, brothers Richard Srna and James (JoAnn) Srna, daughter Linda (Robert) Whicker, son James (Sherry) Pede, Jr, daughter Diana (Kevin) Senner, and son Roger (Kay) Pede. Grandchildren Bobby (Valerie) Whicker, Renee (Gaines) Johnson, Randy (Alexis) Whicker, Michael (Mackenzie) Pede, Thomas (Samantha) Pede, Shanon (Patrick) Johnson, Brad Henry, Brian Henry, Kathryn Pede, and Christopher Pede. Great grandchildren Gaines II and Annabelle Johnson, Kinnick and Piper Pede, Daniel and Matthew Pede, Dexter and Isabella Johnson, and Aurora and Delilah Henry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Geneva Srna, sister Janice Olson, and sister-in-law Shirley Srna.
Mom will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
We are grateful for the staff at Ozark Methodist Manor and the care they have provided for the past three years. We also want to thank all our family and friends for their loving support during this difficult time. It has carried us.
A graveside service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
