Local Man Loses Everything to Late Night Fire

On Tuesday July 11, 2023 everything changed for Arlis Hester and his family. He lost his home to a fire that had been in the family for many years. Elaina Hester recalls fond memories of the home with her grandmother as a small child, stating “It was my grandma Nevas home, I have so many memories of her cooking and sitting at the kitchen table. She passed from cancer when I was 7, then my dad and I moved into this house. I lived there my whole life. It is just so sad. But thankfully, he still has his 3 car garage and barn.” Arlis plans to convert the space into living quarters. With the help of the community, as well as Red Cross, his immediate and basic needs have been met. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe account to help during this trying time, as he had no insurance to cover the loss. Arlis wants to thank for the overwhelming amount of love and support that he has received. If you would like more information about helping this family, you can contact The Vedette at 417-617-6397
