Janet Wolfe Burns

Janet Wolfe Burns, of Greenfield, Missouri, passed away July 24, 2024, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born January 12, 1951, in Greenfield to Don and Agnes Wolfe.

On January 3, 1981, she married Lyle Burns and became the mother of his two children, Gregg and Joy.

Janet graduated from Greenfield High School in 1969 and Springfield Beauty Academy. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Greenfield until retiring to care for her grandchildren.

When Olivia and Garret began attending school, she worked at the Lutheran Day Care Center in Lockwood where she became known as “Granny Janny”.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Donald Lloyd; and her brother-in-law, Denny Frieze. She is survived by her husband, Lyle; son, Gregg Burns and wife, Kim, of Arcola; daughter, Joy Finley and husband, Perry, of Lockwood; grandchildren, Olivia Finley (Cameron Hicks) of Carl Junction, Garret (Morgan) Burns and Henry and Gus of Bolivar, Jill (Zack) Masterson and Paxton, Zain, and Finley of Lockwood, and Jamie (Adam) Abbiatti and J.P. and Avery of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Janet was anxiously awaiting the birth of her great- granddaughter, Daisy James Hicks. Additional survivors include sisters, Anita Frieze of Joplin and LaDonna Wolfe of Springfield; brother, Robert Wolfe and his wife, Colleen, of Pittsburg, Kansas; and nieces, Susan Frieze (Jim Burnside) of Joplin, Sarah (Carl) Loughery of Springfield, and Amy Wolfe of Pittsburg, Kansas.

The obituary was written with love by her family.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Lockwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
