Donald “Don” McMechan

Donald Ray “Don” McMechan, of Greenfield, Missouri, went peacefully to his eternal home on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the age of 77, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 18, 1948 in Tonganoxie, Kansas, to Clarence Wesley, Jr. and Vera Gay (Kramer) McMechan.  
Don was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Mitchell on August 31, 1968 in Kansas City, Kansas.  
Don was a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and old cars.  Don loved working with his hands creating unique treasures, remodeling, and building to make his family’s visions and dreams come true.  He never passed up a good meal and loved spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Vera McMechan; one son, Daniel Lee McMechan; and five brothers: Gene McMechan, Dean McMechan, Glen McMechan, Carl McMechan, and Larry McMechan.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn McMechan; his son, Scott McMechan and wife Christi; granddaughter, Harley; his daughter, Julie Wilkinson and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Laikin Smith and husband, Weston and great-grandchild, Elowen; grandsons, Brady Wilkinson and Jase Wilkinson; six siblings: Wilma Hall, Stanley McMechan, Marilyn Burns, Leland McMechan, Sherry Feurt, and Clinton McMechan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Collins Cemetery in Lockwood.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center.
