Steve Sayre, 63, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025.
Steve attended MSU earning a degree in political science. He further his education at Central Missouri State in Warrensburg.
After college, Steve began his law enforcement career with the federal bureau prisons in El Reno, Oklahoma as a Correctional Officer and later moved to the records office as a supervisor where he worked within the U.S. Prison System developing programs that are still used in the prison system today. He later moved to the U.S. Prison Transfer Center in Oklahoma City where he flew with the U.S. Marshals transporting prisoners all over the country.
Steve and his wife, Mary, were privileged to share 35 years together with their furry, faithful companions. Mary proceeded him in death, and they will be buried together.
He is survived by his sister, Debbie Danderson Wright and her husband, Jack of Nixa, Missouri.
Steve loved his country and the outdoors spending many hours in his younger days floating the rivers of Missouri and Arkansas. He enjoyed discussing politics, working in his yard and taking care of his corgies.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the cemetery in Ash Grove, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian County Least of These Food Pantry where Steve volunteered his time.
