Cathy Shepard
July 30, 2025
Catherine “Cathy” Shepard, of Greenfield, Missouri, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. She was born on 25 December 1952 in Decoto, California to Gilbert and Maria Torres. Cathy was raised with her five brothers: Gilbert, Gene, Johnny, David, and Ricky; and two sisters, Helen, and Anita. Coming from a large family she was taught the values of love, trust, honesty, and compassion.
Cathy was united in marriage to Charles Shepard on 1 Feb 1975 in Reno, Nevada. From this union they had two children, Charles in 1976, and Carla in 1978. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage until his passing in 2018. Cathy dedicated her life to her Lord and her family in every way she knew how. From making sure at every birthday there was a cake to be shared, or hand making needle point gifts for Christmas when money was tight. She always placed a smile from a friend over one of her own, and often only asked for a hug as payment from any help she was able to provide.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Maria; five brothers: Gilbert, Gene, Johnny, David, and Ricky; her husband, Charles; and countless friends that she loved dearly.
Cathy is survived by her son, Charles, and her daughter, Carla both of Greenfield; and six grandsons who were the reason for her smile: Gage Shepard of Greenfield, Briar Shepard of Springfield, Hayden Shepard of Greenfield, sons of Charles; and Connor Williamson of Neosho, Chance Williamson of Joplin, and Dustin Williamson of Neosho, sons of Carla.
Through life and love, Cathy gained three other grandchildren: Danny Studentt of Springfield, Garrett Myers of Neosho, and Brendon Keithley of Joplin. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Parnala of Vacaville, California and Anita Williams of Hayward, California; and many nieces and nephews stretching from Missouri to California
