August 06, 2025

Carolyn Sue Natho, age 87, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. She was born December 18, 1937, at the Johnson family farm in rural Miller, Missouri, to R. Venton and L. Mae (Eutsler) Johnson. She grew up in the Onward community and graduated from Miller High School in 1955. Carolyn was baptized in Turnback Creek and faithfully attended Onward Community Church, playing the piano for many years.
In 1955 she married Archie Natho and after a brief honeymoon in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked as a bookkeeper/office assistant. They shared 43 years together before his death on February 21, 1999.
While living in Kansas City, she enjoyed hosting their nieces and nephews on Archie’s side of the family which was an enjoyable time for all.
In 1973 they moved back to the Johnson family farm so they could raise their girls on the farm. She was privileged to be a full-time stay at home Mom throughout most of their school years. She was always present and loved participating in school parties, PTA and whatever else the girls were involved in.
She worked for the Miller Press newspaper as the Office Manager during the girls’ high school years. Carolyn was grateful to help her brother, Larry, with his children, Doug, Bob, Charles, Sarah, and Carole after their mother tragically died in 1983.
Carolyn was well known for her fabulous cooking, her kind, welcoming demeanor, and her card ministry. She loved to send cards to people and had a gift for picking out the perfect card for the occasion and sending it at just the right time. Her big heart was apparent to all she came in contact with.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Susan (Danny) Block of Reeds, Missouri and Barbara (Carl) Wagner of Miller, Missouri; her three grandchildren, whom she thought the world of: Zac Sparks of Miller, Missouri; Jesse Sparks (Kendra Coughlin) of Arnold, Missouri; and Emilee (Kyle) Pepper of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Jeannette Henson and her aunt, Dorothy Eutsler both of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
