Gladys Grimes

Gladys Ida Grimes, 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, surrounded by her children. She was born on February 26, 1940, in Pecatonica, Illinois to Walter and Lydia (Bruns) Wiegert. 

On September 4, 1964, Gladys and David Theordore Grimes were united in marriage and shared over 44 years together, before David’s passing in 2009. 

Gladys loved tending her flower gardens and was an avid reader. She dedicated much of her life to nurturing for others through her work as a geriatric nurse. 

At home, she delighted in cooking and caring for her family, making every meal a gesture of love. Some of her happiest moments were spent at the family cabin, where she enjoyed the peace of nature and the company of those she cherished most.

Gladys is survived by her children: Barbie Reed, Debbie Lambeth, David Grimes Jr., Gregory Grimes; grandchildren: Cassie Reed, Layne Reed, Connor Lambeth, Patrick Lambeth, Cydney Grimes, Kamryn Grimes, Noah Rogers, Harper Grimes; great grandchildren: Amelia Lambeth, Ryker Palmer, Everly Mae Lambeth, and Waverly Brown; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. 

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lydia Wiegert; husband, David Grimes; siblings, Kenneth Wiegert and Arlene Wiegert. 

Rosary will be, Friday, August 22, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove, with visitation to follow until 7 p.m.. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Smith Chapel, Brixey, Missouri.
