Alyssa’s life, looked to most, as one lacking, brokenness, or heartbreak.
Alyssa’s life started out rough from day one when she had a stroke, maybe even before breathing her first breath. She endured numerous procedures, therapies, surgeries, treatments all to help her achieve even the simplest of tasks and the best life possible over the past 28 years. Those were some of the worst of times. She carried diagnosis of cerebral palsy, failure to thrive, intellectual disabilities and epilepsy, but she was so much more. She was beautiful, loved, cherished, smart, funny, happy, onry, treasured, chosen, fearfully and wonderfully made.
Her life was not by chance. She had a purpose. She loved life! She started therapies at just six months through First Steps, then school at Ash Grove Early Childhood Special Education. She later graduated from Willard High School in 2016.  She played multiple sports Miracle League baseball, Sporting Chance bowling and track, Park Board swimming and bowling.  She was an Art Inspired actress, Hallmark movie junkie, who kept her cell phone close at all times in case one of her boyfriends might have wanted to give her a call. She fiercely loved her family, being the big sister to some for a few days and a special few for the rest of her days.
Alyssa loved her caregivers, therapist, nurses, teachers, staff and volunteers, who all become a special part of her daily life. She may have never spoken a word, but her smile lit up every room and that was her special gift. She was joyful and happy. She rarely cried and found delight in even the simplest of tasks.
Alyssa loved going!  She went to church, sports, school, camp, dances, out to eat, plays, community events, doctors- lots of doctors and on all the roller coasters.
Her vacation week each year was spent at Camp Barnabas. Her favorite place on earth! She was a thrill seeker who was always on the lookout for a cute boy. She loved Jesus and spending time in church and ministry groups like Shine and Enabled when they worshipped together. She went down an unexpected path in her life that allowed her to shine her light to many who heard about Jesus and His love for her through her family and friends. She was a missionary to a world of providers and was used in a mighty way. This week she finished her work here on earth and stepped into Heaven healed and whole, able to walk and speak where she heard, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant, well done!”
