Charles Johnson

Charles Ival Johnson, 59, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. Born on July 29, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, Charles spent his early years in Everton, Missouri before moving to Oklahoma at the age of 14. He graduated from Webster High School and later from Tulsa Welding School. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Tammy Wilson, and their children: Joshua Johnson, Jason Johnson, and Brittany Horsman—who shared a birthday with her father—along with her husband, Jacob and a bonus daughter, Gracie Wilson. 

Charles was a proud grandfather to Tyler, Lacey, Kamaya, and baby Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl Lynn Johnson, Clarissa Thornton, Tina Benson, Teresa Wilson, Tela Adams, and Shelly Smith; his brothers Neil Roger Johnson Jr., Hammond Andrew Johnson, and Kevin Ryder plus his loving stepmother Sharon Butcher.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother and stepfather, Virginia (Woolman) and Curtis Poindexter; his father, Neil Roger Johnson; his sister, Delorus Irene Crawford and his brother-in-law, Burley Wilson. 

Charles’s ashes will be taken to be with his mother at Yates Cemetery, Ava, Douglas County, Missouri.

Charles lived a life of quiet strength and unwavering love. He fought a good fight and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
